Funny kind of topic really - the meaning of colors. If you asked a blind person the same thing you may get all kinds of answers but I can assure they'd have something to say on the subject. It's not a vague notion like in that Cher film either - heat equals red and white equals cold.
Essentially a color has a frequency and a vibration just like everything else. We're molecules which are bumping and grinding together and our molecules vibrate when they come into contact with other wave forms. So how can a color have meaning or even affect the way we run our everyday lives? Well if you're looking for something to calm you down look no further than the color orange.
It'll be a great stabilizing effect on the very core of your being as it's the color of the third chakra and is located in your solar plexus. The beautiful description of a buddhist monk's orange robes as vibrant couldn't be more apt for this particular energy. Get some orange in your life to increase the vibration of you self-respect. You could even eat a few nectarines and taste the color too!

Combining Sounds and Chakras to Heal with Color
Is it a coincidence that the colors of the rainbow are so magical and relate to the same colors that we use for healing? Of course it's not. The colors steadily increase in frequency from red through to violet until the highest color, violet, corresponds exactly with the highest stage of development.
Each relationship between color and chakra corresponds to higher frequencies of physical, emotional and spiritual intelligence. No wonder, then that we can calm down anxiety by using the spiritual systems. Chakra Tapping is an alternative system that builds on this foundation of healing to increase the benefits of working with the whole chakra system.
With the benefits of balancing energy throughout the meridians the centers of spiritual growth will swirl more vibrantly than ever.

Transmitting Subliminal Sounds
The idea of positive or negative sounds in our environment always fascinates me. I can hear the same sounds from one day to the next and either be frustrated or calmed depending on my mood and so many environmental factors. It largely boils down to how I classify that sound and whether I see it as imposed or elective. This is discussed further in the article Subliminal Sounds: How to Transmit Them. Basically, if I have any sounds imposed on me - such as that kid practicing his drum kit until all hours - it's not going to do me a any good. If it's me choosing to play the drums, well that's a different matter.
On the other hand, if I want to calm my mind, boost my immune system and generally increase my feeling of wellness and goodwill to all men, I take out my MD recorder and record the birds singing in the evening or the babbling brook. Then just having this tinkling in the background is enough to induce a feeling of immense calm...

Parking and the Law of Attraction!
Here's something you can try with the law of attraction. If you don't want to go to all the bother of making a vision board or using daily affirmations then you can try out the law of attraction with something simple to begin with.
How about this? The next time you go to the mall in the car, imagine where you want to park your car. I don't know what your preference is but mine is usually to get as close to the entrance as I can. I used to do gigs and had equipment to unload and set up so this was always a bonus. The mall I used to visit had bars and a cinema too so it really got busy about 6pm when I used to turn up. Having said that, I would nearly always get a space right next to the entrance whenever I did this exercise. The few times I didn't get one straight away I only had to reiterate my intention of parking there and on my next circuit there would almost always be someone reversing out of the exact space I wanted or one pretty close to it.
This, for me, was a real practical application of the law of attraction. It impressed my girlfriend too - even more than playing music in a club (maybe I just wasn't a very good musician...)! You don't need to spend hours meditating on it or write it down - just state your intention to the Universe as you set off and don't doubt the outcome.

MindZoom: 5 great reasons to use subliminal affirmations
MindZoom is a software affirmation package that helps you integrate daily affirmations into your life almost effortlessly. Apart from the fact that it's computer based, there are some really great reasons to use it. Here are just 5 of them:
- MindZoom flashes affirmations on your computer screen as you work and you can control the frequency and duration.
- MindZoom allows you to edit affirmations and tailor them to your own needs and preferences, that's if you don't decide to use some of the almost limitless possibilities that come with it.
- You can make your own mix of music and affirmations and save that track to your hard drive in mp3 format which means that you can create your own affirmation tracks to use on the move.
- Along with the mixer for point number 3 you also get the opportunity to add Alpha or Beta waves to your mix so that means you can heighten the effects - Alpha will help you learn!
- All this plus loads of freebies, over 90 minutes of nature sounds and oodles of help and support from the company if you choose to get the package.
The whole experience is painless and the benefits really worthwhile! The MindZoom package for subliminal messaging takes the hard work out of daily affirmations!

Continued Support for Affirmations from MindZoom
Now I can have it running in the background, all the time, when I work on my PC, and use affirmations and uplifting words that I've tailored to suit my own needs. All this with continued and positive support from the help desk. Admittedly, it takes a bit of getting used to working on a PC again (Mindzoom won't work on a Mac) but to sacrifice an hour to work on editing a wave file in a windows based program is a small sacrifice to make.

Helpdesk for MindZoom Subliminal Daily Affirmations
If you've had time to read my review of MindZoom software for subliminal daily affirmations you'll know that I had a couple of stumbling blocks during the first trials of the package. Namely that I couldn't play a mixed down file and that I found I was missing some bonus material that was included in the deal. There's over $400 worth of bonus material included so I was quite keen to get my hands on that. Well I've now updated the page with the results of my approach to the help desk. Their response was great. In fact I had a reply from the big chief, Dino.
In MindZoom you can make your own mix of sounds, affirmations and Alpha or Beta waves and I'd thought that you could then play that through the software. That's not the case and you need to run the visual affirmations separately while playing the saved mp3 or WAV file on windows media player, VLC or iTunes. It works just as well. I've now also got a link to the download page for the bonus material. How refreshing to come across a support service that's so efficient and helpful! My daily affirmations will never be the same again...
Namaste.

My Daily Affirmations with MindZoom
Well I've been harping on a lot about my daily affirmations but as of this week it just got a whole lot easier. I suppose two of my passions in life - possibly of quite a contrary nature - would be a love of all things spiritual, such as my Tibetan singing bowls and a love of technology.
I can spend hours mixing, cutting and pasting tracks. It's what I do when I work in a school and use soundtracks with children. But I have now started using MindZoom properly and I'm delighted at what it can do. If you want to read a review of my experiences then go to my lens and you'll get an in depth account of how MindZoom works with daily affirmations and sound.
In the meantime, if you want to hear a bit of the soothing sounds of the bowls, then you can put headphones on and listen to a mind clearing session. If you listen, please sit down in a comfortable position and don't operate machinery or drive a car!
Happy reading! Happy listening!
Namaste...
Circular Energy with Daily Affirmations
The whole essence of spirituality in a place like Kathmandu seems to be all about the flow of energy through some form of daily affirmation. I'd be lying if I said that everyone is practising Yoga and chanting mantras on every street corner. But you can't get away from the ancient monuments and shrines forever reminding the visitor of the grand spiritual roots of the city. Don't get me wrong - the shrines, although sometimes in a pitiful state of repair, are still very much a part of the everyday lives of the citizens. They'll wander up to Buddha and touch their forehead and heart. Many Hindu deities also stand proudly at junctions. The one that seemed to get the most attention was Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. And who could blame people for reaching out to her. Even the written language is made up of curves and beautiful script that effortlessly flows like an intricate decoration.
Just how important these daily reminders are is made very clear when you visit Boudanath and hear the rich sounds of affirmations as followers of Buddha walk around the Stupa clockwise, chanting their prayers. Within earshot you'll also often hear the monks in a temple playing drums, cymbals and horns loudly in celebration of their religion.
In the same place there's a little shop called The Old Tibetan Singing Bowl Shop where you can try out an amazing array of bowls. This is where I learnt my first experience of the flow of energy when you use a bowl. There's a meditation you do which goes like this:
- hold the bowl in front of you and quite close to your mouth
- strike the bowl with a felt beater and listen to the (two) tones you can hear
- pick out the higher tone which is usually ringing over an octave above the lower tone
- sing to the bowl at the same pitch as the higher tone
- when your breath runs out listen to how the higher tone has increase in body and volume
This is the beauty of circular energy when using the bowls. You may get a few odd looks from other tourists but the effect is beautiful and magical.
The higher tone is called a harmonic and the result of singing the harmonic is similar to creating the interval of a fifth on any polyphonic instrument. The fifth is a magical interval in itself. There's current research underway to investigate its healing qualities and I intend to put some on my Mindzoom affirmation software.
Mindzoom is a package I'm only just beginning to understand the true value of. I've experienced its pre-packed sounds and now I think I'm ready to start experimenting with creating my own mixes. So, if you haven't got a Tibetan singing bowl to practice this meditation then maybe you can experiment yourself. Otherwise you can get ideas on how to use Tibetan singing bowls at my site.
So... Namaster, OM and good luck with your sounds and daily affirmations!

Daily Affirmations as Tibetan Singing Bowls vs Computers
I came across an app on an iPhone the other day with Tibetan singing bowls ringing out like affirmations. It just made me realise all the more I realise that their unique sounds are like a form of affirmation in their own right. It's like a language in its own right and reminds me that we don't have to understand an affirmation - just like the Sanskrit mantras used in Yoga. We don't need to understand the significance or meaning of the bowls to understand the effect they have on us. It's almost subliminal. There's so much we try and do these days to keep on top of life... yoga with affirmations is one thing we try and do and then again we sit and listen to a piece of music we like. Or we surround ourselves with sounds that make us feel good and use sounds as affirmations of a sort. It could be the sea lapping against the beach or the birds singing in a forest, a stream trickling by or a gentle breeze through the grass.
But we have busy lives these days and we don't take enough time to enjoy these experiences and the benefits they bring to our lives and wellbeing. But what about using technology for affirmations too? I know that I've recorded the sounds of the sea at Rocky Bay in Ireland and I play this sometimes when I'm doing the Tibetan singing bowls for people. It really is a way of blocking out all the unwanted extra sounds that we don't want to hear.

If we take the technology one step further there are ways of using computers out there too that help us use affirmations - our own as well as the ones that come pre-packaged. Some people find the idea of using a computer to deliver subliminal messaging quite a nasty prospect. But there are rave reviews out there too. I have an open mind - maybe too open! And while I'm open to the idea of using computers to help me gain positivity in my life, I won't yet believe that a recording of Tibetan singing bowls can replace their beautiful sounds. I think I'll use both methods and be totally chilled and positive!

Daily Affirmations, Yoga and Sounds in Daily Life!
Hey there! What's the deal with how to use affirmations? There's a mass of self-help books and material out there telling us how to improve our outlook. I first came across using affirmations with yoga after a trip to the yoga retreat centre on Clare Island way back in 2003. There I experienced mantras in combination with doing the Sun Salutations in the context of Ashtanga Yoga. It was HARD WORK! Two hours of hard exercise every day. But the sounds were amazing. And it was just the sounds. So I wondered about how to use sound for daily affirmations and got very interested in Tibetan singing bowls.
If you spend any time with these wonderful instruments it becomes clear that it's more about the vibrations and the feel of the sounds. So everything seems to work at a subliminal level. Auto-suggestion comes to mind. It reminds me of a programme of language learning called Suggestopedia used back in the cold war by the Soviets to train their spies to speak like a native quickly. In the course of my reading around the subject of self-hypnosis and subliminal messaging I've also come across some subliminal messaging software that can also help you absorb positive messages to change your life view and get you motivated. It's just the start of the journey for me but it's exciting already!
Music is such an exciting journey for me. This is a song I wrote that says it all... feel free to listen.
